Mehmet Güreli
Mehmet Güreli is a Turkish writer, painter, director and musician. He graduated from Istanbul University, majoring in philosophy. He started working for the Hürriyet newspaper in 1976. He is noted for his work across numerous art media. He is the brother of painter Talat Güreli and the nephew of writer Salâh Birsel. After completing secondary school at Istanbul Boys' High School (IEL), then Austrian High School, and high school at Yeni College and Ferhan College, he attended Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Philosophy for 2 years. In 1973, he released his first album under the pen name "Mephisto". In 1976, he started working in Hürriyet newspaper. Güreli, who produced products in many branches of art, was known as the "decathlete" of art in the 80s. He published his first story book, Sicak Goz, in 1985.
