Agustina Galizzi
Born in 1981 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón and furthered her training with Cristina Delmagro and Mario Galizzi, among others. At the age of 14, she won the Silver Medal at the 1st Mercosur Festival and, a year later, the Bronze Medal at the Buenos Aires International Ballet Competition. In 1997, she worked with Julio Bocca’s Argentine Ballet and, in 1998/99, with the Teatro Colón’s Ballet Estable. In 2000, she joined the National Dance Company of Mexico, rising to First Dancer in 2009, a position she held for 22 years. She was a semi-finalist at the Helsinki International Competition 2001, and the press distinguished her as “Best Performer.” She has danced in international festivals and with the Metropolitan Ballet of Argentina and the Mexico City Ballet. She has worked with prominent choreographers and composers such as Nellie Happe, Gustavo Herrera, Ricardo Bustamante, and Sir Ben Stevenson. Her repertoire includes Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, among others. She is currently dedicated to teaching in and outside of Mexico, and has been invited as a judge in competitions such as the South African International Ballet Competition. In 2022, she was awarded the “Medalla Bellas Artes” for her career.
